MSV 2021 LC Championships
April 24 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm AEST
Please note it is a 10am warm-up for a 10.30am start time.
I hope you are all as excited as I am about getting back to state championship swimming. I am looking forward to seeing the 235 registered swimmers at the Victorian long course championships at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatics Centre this Saturday 24th April.
Like all masters swimming events, we rely heavily on volunteers to ensure our competitions run smoothly. I am calling on all clubs to please provide timekeeper volunteers throughout the day. You don’t need any experience to perform the timekeeper role, just report to pool deck when you arrive or head there when you hear a request for timekeeper assistance. The role of timekeeper is extremely important and very easy. We struggle to confirm times and records without them.
If you are interested in getting involved as an accredited technical official, we are also looking for a person who might like to take on the role of chief timekeeper for the day. Please approach anyone in a Masters Swimming Victoria t-shirt about this when you arrive at the event. They will put you in contact with the right person.
On a final note, the long course championships is the first state sanctioned meet running under covid activity restrictions. We need to maintain the necessary 1.5 metre social distancing requirement as much as possible. Please check in with the QR code to MSAC when you arrive and follow all directions set out by Masters Swimming Victoria and the venue.
I ask all swimmers and supporters to listen carefully to announcements during the day. Marshalling will look a bit different. Please be patient. With fewer swimmers allowed in the marshalling area, you will need to get to marshalling within short timeframes. Don’t be too early as you won’t be allowed in, and definitely don’t be late as you will miss your race.
Good luck and happy swimming
Rachel Cairns – President MSV
